It is the Saturday before Easter 2020. Yesterday, marks the day that we reflect on the death of our Lord. Tomorrow, marks the day that we celebrate His rise from the dead. Saturday is just sort of sandwiched in there, sort of like The Empire Strikes Back is a bridge between Star Wars: A New Hope and The Return of the Jedi.

In a post years ago, I made the same comment about The Empire Strikes Back being a bridge between the two other movies, and people went ballistic in my blog comments. My favorite was the endless dissertation from someone who signed of as “Bob, your former blog reader”. Well, I did not know that Bob was my blog reader prior to his angry comments on that blog post. It felt like I got dumped by a boyfriend that I never knew I had.

I bet that the mysterious Bob is reading this right now. I bet he is feverishly typing up another blog comment. How are you gonna sign off on this one Bob? Huh? Can I call you Bobby?

I am not sure what has me out of bed at 6:00 AM on a Saturday taunting my blog readers. Please know that this is just an attempt at levity. I truly hope that Bob is still reading my blog and feeling at peace with my sentiments towards The Empire Strikes Back. It is just that I need to find a way to pass the time today that does not involve the refrigerator, and I thought a little blog humor might help. It is concerning when your dog is trained to come running to the sound of the refrigerator’s snack drawer opening because he knows you feel guilty about getting another snack, and that you will inevitably give him one too. I have gained exactly 4 pounds, but it feels like 20.

This morning’s headline news on Fox is that Trump is organizing a task force for the “reopening of our economy”. Trump’s commitment to this happening as soon as possible is evident in his every action. When asked how I feel about Trump, my honest answer is, “I am a huge supporter of our nation’s economy and capitalism.”

In contrast to the feeling of hope that Fox news is projecting, the lead story on MSN is Global Deaths from Virus Soar past 100,000. Hey MSN! A quick Google search suggests that 1.5 million people die world wide from car accidents each year. Should we all stay at home and stop driving our cars? Would that further your agenda?

Alexa is set to play music at 6:45 AM, so the music just kicked on. Jamey Johnson, In Color is playing, changing my mood from snarky to nostalgic in an instant. I LOVE THIS SONG. Alexa knows how to pick my morning music.

I plan to spend the day with a long morning run followed by a day of working on my book with a kitty in my lap. This won’t be a bad Saturday, but life is not as it should be right now. I believe that it is time for us to start thinking about reclaiming our freedom. I pray that our country will come together in the “reopening of our economy”. May there be hell to pay for those that choose to further their own political agendas over the wellness of our nation.
