It is another Friday during the “New Normal”. My workday was non-stop today. Brainy Bird was up early with me making sure that all of his school work was done, and finding time to read. He is enjoying his new found time to read. Little Chirp slept in. Little Chirp had all of his school work done, and Little Chirp was pretty honest about the fact that there was not a reason to get up early. I do not like this. I believe in getting up early to seize the day, but I let it go.

I was on non-stop conference calls for work this morning, which gave the boys some time together. Brainy Bird took Little Chirp for lunch at Chic-fila, and then they went to pick up a backstop for Little Chirp’s new basketball goal. They finished their adventure with Dairy Queen.

That is right, Little Chirp got a new basketball goal. He has spent a few hours everyday playing on a broken goal, and we decided as a family that this was a worthy expenditure. He is excited about it, but he won’t let me take down the old goal. He has a sort of sentimental attachment to it. The new goal is perfect! Funny, the new goal does not seem to fit with the rest of our home, which was built in the 1970’s.

Once the boys got back, from their rare venture out, Little Chirp spent the better part of the afternoon playing basketball in the driveway, and Brainy Bird finished up his school work for the week. When I finally wrapped up my workday, we enjoyed dinner together as a family, and then a game of Mario Party 9. I lost, again.

It is now close to 10 o’clock, and I am ready for bed. There is a lot to write about, but this will have to wait until tomorrow. I have spent way too much time at my computer today.

Good night all. Stay safe, stay healthy.
