I am pretty sure that this is the latest that I have been awake since the “New Normal” began. Today marks the start of the 6th week of the shutdown of our nation’s economy. That is difficult to comprehend.

After work today, I changed out of my pajamas, and the boys and I finished cleaning out the garage. I started a couple of weeks ago, and as Little Chirp pointed out, we only had a couple more hours of work to do, and we should get it done. Little Chirp’s motivation to clean out the garage is to have my car parked in the garage, thus out of the way of his basketball practice. The most important thing in Little Chirp’s world right now is his basketball time.

My car is now parked in the garage for the first time ever. We moved here last October, so it has been a minute. Potatoe is snuggled up with Storme on Potatoe’s pillow bed next to my desk. The kittens are cuddled up together on the couch. Both boy have been in bed asleep for about an hour.

The stock market took a second tumble today. My guess is that tomorrow will be a rally day. Thursday’s market is anyone’s guess. After being negative yesterday, oil prices made some recovery, but no where near what is needed to sustain the oil industry that our Houston economy is so heavily dependent on.

I am beyond ready for all of this to be over.

Getting our freedom back is just step one. The road to economic recovery is going to be a long one. I fear that Houston’s economy is going to be among the hardest hit because of our strong tie to the oil industry.

Houston is an acquired taste. Many people are here because they have a job here. When the job market weakens, people leave Houston, so the suburban housing and rental markets get hit almost immediately. I was once one of those people, just living in Houston because I got a job here. Now, Houston is the city that I love. I am here to stay. As I have said many time already, I am grateful to have a home that is not only special to me it; it is affordable. I will be able to stay regardless of what happens from a job perspective.

It is definitely time to get to bed. Thank you for stopping by to read my thoughts.
