It is lunch time here at the Storey house. I normally run during lunch, so that I am burning calories instead of consuming them. Today, my schedule is shifted around. I wanted to fertilize the yard before it rained, so I got up crazy early, fertilized the yard and then went for my run before I started my work day. The rain that we were expecting this morning has not happened yet.
The boys are outside playing basketball together. I told Brainy Bird he needs to add an hour of exercise to his schedule each day, and he chose basketball with his little brother. I see Little Chirp running to shag the ball every so often. I have yet to see Brainy Bird. Either Brainy Bird is not getting much exercise, or he is sticking to the side of the court that I cannot see out the window.
I was right. The stock market is on a rally today. I have not looked at oil prices. I am actually afraid to look. The government is working on additional funding for the small business stimulus package, which ran out of money last week. I think this is critical for small business, but this is a temporary fix. We have to re-open our economy. I do not believe that we can wait until June.
The other major headlines are further evidence that the virus not only originated from a lab in Wuhan, China, but that the Chinese government was well aware of the situation and silenced those that spoke out about it. Moreover, China bought up all of the medical supplies and then sold them back at a king’s ransom to countries around the world. China’s predicament is now further complicated by rumors that the leader of North Korea is in critical condition. I am sadly ignorant about world politics, but I would assume some degree of allegiance among communistic regimes.
On a lighter news front, Tom Brady has gone to Tampa Bay and Rob Gronkowski has come out of retirement to join him. I hope that we have football season! I know that seems so trivial given all that is going on, but it is something that I love. Additionally, major league sports are also an important part of our economy.
On a local front, we expecting the Harris County judge, that somehow has major confusion over her power and what it means to be an American, to announce that Harris County is going to require people to wear a mask. I could go on forever about how wrong I think this is, but I won’t. I will not be wearing a mask. I will gladly be ticketed for doing so, and I look forward to my day in court.
Lunch is over, and it is time to get back to work. Stay healthy my friends.
