It is the last day of April 2020. The weather is beautiful again today. Little Chirp has been out at his basketball goal for well over an hour already this morning. I should probably step outside and work from my patio for awhile. Days like this in Houston are numbered as the summer heat will soon be taking over.

Yesterday, was the second day of the “New Normal” that I did not take time out to write in my blog. I used all of the free time that I had to go for a long run. I wanted to get a long run in while the weather is cooler. Today, I am finally taking a much needed rest day. I have planned a couple of rest days in the past week or so, and I always wind up going for a run later that evening. I am physically tired, and I need a rest.

I woke up this morning worried about the future. I think everyone has woken up at least once in the last 45 days filled with worry. I am worried about the economy. I am worried about the disruption to Brainy Bird’s college application process. I am worried about my financial future; energy is a tough industry to be in right now. Everything that I am worried about is something that I cannot control, so I need to stop worrying.

I am praying with all of my heart that our reopening of the economy goes smoothly in Texas. This process begins tomorrow. I have plans to go for coffee at my favorite breakfast place tomorrow after I finish my usual Friday morning work tasks and meetings. This is something that I am definitely looking forward to.

On the news front, for us here in Texas, the Phase 1 of the reopening of the economy beginning tomorrow is our biggest news. It is a step in the right direction.

On a world front, the markets had a huge rally yesterday, which was driven by a medical company announcing they likely have a treatment for the virus. I picked a good week to start trading again. I made a significant game in the markets yesterday.

More and more people are starting to challenge the stay at home orders. Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, made a strong statement against the stay at home orders during his earning report call yesterday. This has all of the business news stations a buzz. I agree with Musk. The state at home orders are a threat to our freedom and capitalism, the most important principles on which our country is founded. Lawmakers who have no idea what it is like to make a living should not be able to strip hardworking Americans of their livelihoods.

It terrifies me to reflect on what has happened in our country over the last 45 days. All that I can do right now is pray and stop worrying about what I cannot control.

Tomorrow is a new day.
