It is the start of the 10th week of the “New Normal”. What was supposed to have been 15 days, has now lasted for more than two months. The lockdown orders are under fire across the US, as individual Americans are beginning to stand up for their rights. For some, this means marching in protest, for others this means opening their businesses against state rules saying they should be shutdown. I am proud of those that are standing up for freedom.
The conservative media outlets are filled with hope. The liberal media outlets are filled with peril. I am usually of the mindset that the truth lies somewhere in between. With this, I am not. I believe, despite insurmountable opposition driven by personal, political gain, that Trump is succeeding in seeing our nation through this nightmare. There is so much yet to do, but as the state are slowly reopening, we are stepping out in the right direction.
Texas Governor, Greg Abbott addressed our state again yesterday, and restaurants can begin to open at 50% capacity on Friday, and bars and many of the other establishments, which have been closed this entire time, can begin opening on Friday. Funny, I cannot wait to see my friends, but I will be at home on Friday. The boys and I will be celebrating the end of the school year. For Brainy Bird, this has been a grueling school year.
I think of ways that we might celebrate, dining out, Mario Party, movie night at home with homemade popcorn. I am looking forward to whatever it is that we decide to do.
It is the little things in life…
