Rethinking the New Normal – Day 66 of 15

We have just two days of school left. The past two weeks have been grueling. I am ready for summer break, and I am sure that Brainy Bird is too. Brainy Bird is sitting at the bar in the room that we now call our classroom, and he is completing an essay assignment that asks him to write a letter to the incoming junior class. Apparently, this is a common assignment as Little Chirp noted the other day that never has he read one of these letters as incoming student, but he has written plenty of them.

Little Chirp has finished all of his work, and he is snuggled up with Storme and Trooper reading another book. A book or two arrives every week now from Amazon, and he knocks them out in no time. Potatoe and Pumpkine are relaxing on the back porch with me. I started my work day at 4:30 AM this morning to prepare for a meeting at 9:30 AM that did not happen. Sleep would have been a better choice.

I used to get up everyday at 4 AM. Now, I get up at 6 AM on most days, and I feel extremely well rested all day. On the days that I do still get up at 4, like today, I feel tired and stressed. When this is all over, I am going to find a way to adjust my schedule to not get up before 6 AM. This is one of a few changes that I will be making. Another is that I am going to keep running for an hour everyday. Often times, my run in my favorite hour of the day, and despite eating whatever I want, I manage to keep the weight off. I am also going to keep cooking at home more often than not as I then eat better, and I save money.

The negative effects of the virus on our lives is tremendous, but there are also positives. I hope that we hang on to these positives.
