Today is Friday, May 22, 2020. We begin another phase of reopening our economy amidst the Covid19 pandemic. Today, restaurants can expand their capacity to 50%, and bars can now open at 25% capacity. Overnight camps, youth sports and professional sports are set to begin again on May 31. The professionals sports will be held without spectators. Day cares and youth clubs began back up earlier this week. We are rolling slowly down the path of recovery.
We are heading into the holiday weekend with lots of positives. My sister said that traffic in New Braunfels is insane, as tourists have returned. Texans want to go somewhere, but they do not want to go far, so they head to New Braunfels. Her restaurant has historically done really well during economic downturns. Folks do not stop eating out; they just choose less expensive establishments, which is the category that my sister’s restaurant falls into.
The school year will sort of be officially over at the end of the day today. Brainy Bird has his Spanish AP exam at 3 PM this afternoon. This is his last exam, but he is likely going to have to retake the calculus exam as he had technical difficulties uploading his answers to his test. The online AP testing has been plagued with issues. I never want to endure the stress of online exams again.
The boys will be spending the holiday weekend here, and then they will spend their first summer weekdays at their dad’s house next week, so we are switching things up. We have decided to dine out with my friend Yvonne and Page one day this weekend, and then we will spend the rest of the weekend getting the spare room of the house in order and playing games. Three days of Mario Party 🙂 Yippee!!!
I am looking forward to having three whole days without work or school!!!!
It is the little things in life…
