I am sitting at my desk in the kitchen of my little house. Amazon’s Virtual Hug play list is playing. Andra Day’s Rise Up is on at the moment.

You’re broken down and tired
Of living life on a merry go round
And you can’t find the fighter
But I see it in you so we gonna walk it out
And move mountains
We gonna walk it out
And move mountains

I love this song….

Potatoe is laying on his dog bed underneath my desk with a teddy bear that is not his. Potatoe is like a toddler when it comes to stuffed animals; he wants them all, and he slobbers on them all. Like a toddler, I will take the stolen bear back from him when he doses off for his morning nap.

Storme is laying in the windowsill where the misplaced bear normally sits, looking out the window. Trooper is once again in the basket that is supposed to be for the Nintendo Wii equipment. Three cat baskets and a dog basket, and Trooper claims the toy basket instead. Pumpkine is laying in the net underneath the hammock outside, that it is her favorite spot these days.

I just finished making myself an omelet sort of like Mom used to make. I used turkey instead of ham, and I used a can of green chilis instead of bell pepper. As a child I thought I did not like bell pepper. As an adult, I realize that I have nothing against bell pepper, I just do not want it any where near my omelet. The dishes from my breakfast making are waiting for me.

My coffee is not quite as good this morning. I ran out of filters, Amazon is not delivering the new ones until later today, so I went to HEB and the only filters I could find are not meant for my coffee maker. My coffee brewing process did not quite work right.

While I was at HEB, I purchased a lottery ticket. When I win it will be all because Amazon could not get me my coffee filters in time.

I do not have a lot planned for today. I am going make a list of stuff for the boys to do this week. They get back from their dad’s house tonight. The first thing on the list is going to be to plan the meals and go to the grocery store. I predict that this means we will be eating chalupas, chili, shrimp in green curry and steak this week. Those are their “go-to” meals.

I am also going to have them clean Brainy Bird’s garage apartment from top to bottom, clean the hall closet and set up some more home automation. I want to strike a balance between having some fun during the summer and being productive. Little Chirp would sit at his computer all day and play video games if I would let him. Brainy Bird would do the same, but take breaks to text message his friends every now and then.

Aside from planning the boys’ week, I am going to watch a couple of podcasts on the financial markets, go for an 11 mile run and have dinner with some friends. This is my idea of a great Sunday.

Doh! Amazon just sent an alert that my package is 10 stops away. The package is the coffee filters. I guess I will have them ready for what is going to be a VERY long work week. My lack of patience is going to make me a millionaire. I just know it.

The lead story on FoxNews is titled, Bad Night this is in reference to the rioting that is happening across the US in response to George Floyd’s death at the hands of Minneapolis police. Three people died last night and many stores were burned down. Our nation is in need of change. Violence is not the way to bring about this change. The belief is that a great deal of the violence is being instigated by a left-wing extremist group, not citizens supporting the cause for the radical change that is needed in the way black citizens are treated.

All we need, all we need is hope
And for that we have each other
And for that we have each other
We will rise
We will rise
We’ll rise, oh oh
We’ll rise

I think that change begins with individuals and kindness. Look a stranger in the eye, and smile kindly, say hi. Make them feel welcome. Ask for a person’s point of view instead of jumping in to share one’s own. As individuals we cannot change the world, but we can change the experiences of the individuals around us. That in turn changes the experiences of the individuals around them.

If only love and kindness could spread as rapidly as the virus did.
