The Break in the Clouds – Day 9 of 30

I am still sitting at my desk. We are doing a major software deployment for one of our clients tonight, and I am manning the deployment process. I am mentally exhausted from the long day of multi-tasking between the deployment and all of the other work that I had to do today, but I am in good spirits.

First and foremost, the deployment is going really well. We still have a few hours of work, but everything suggests that this is going to be a success. A great deal of teamwork has gone into this project, and it is exciting to see everyone come together to bring the project across the finish line.

Brainy Bird has made green curry chicken for dinner. We decided to take the chicken chili off the menu for the week, and then use the fresh chicken for the green curry and save the frozen shrimp that was originally meant for the green curry. After taco soup for dinner on Monday and leftover taco soup for lunch today, Little Chirp wanted something lighter than chicken chili tonight. He also wanted something that is less labor tensive to prepare. Green curry is our healthy rendition of Hamburger Helper (super easy to prepare). There are another couple of lessons for the boys in meal planning.

The boys are in the living room, dining on the delicious dinner that Brainy Bird has prepared, while I sit at my desk finishing my work day. Wheel of Fortune is on, and they are going back and forth on what the puzzles may be. Little Chirp’s excitement around solving the puzzles means that Wheel of Fortune never grows old in our house. I do not really think he is that excited about solving a puzzle; I think he is just keeping us entertained.

We just finished getting Brainy Bird registered for the SAT in August. He thinks that he made all 4’s and 5’s on the AP exams, which means that everything is back on track from a college application perspective. The one exception being that he cannot submit all of his applications on the opening day (August 1st) because of his cancelled SAT during the Corona Virus shutdown.

Brainy Bird also just finished cleaning the kitchen and taking out the trash while I continued to work, and Little Chirp snuggled with Storme. We are definitely spending WAY more time at home than we have during any other summer, but our summer is off to a really nice start. We are enjoying the time together without the stress of school work.

Tomorrow, the boys will have a mostly free day, while I focus on another long work day. I am hoping to be finished with work early on Friday to take them out to a late lunch and have some family time.

I am STILL working. The boys have gone off to the garage apartment for “brother time”, which is guitar time tonight because we are having internet bandwidth issues, so they cannot play games online as it is interfering with my work. Funny, it is only 9:30 PM; I am just not a night person.

I am going to get back to work; hopefully, we will be done soon!

Thank you for stopping by to read my thoughts.
