I am at lunch at Lupe Tortilla, and the place is packed with a mix of the brunch crowd and after church family crowd. The two groups are distinguished by those in church clothes, and those in shorts ordering up their second and third round of drinks. I am fascinated by people on their third round of drinks before noon, but I believe all should be free to make their own life choices. Although, I would not mind it if the parent of the whiney toddler at the table in the bar would make the decision to take the little man outside and to either teach him to stop whining or not sit the family in the bar in the future.
Ha! Petty grievances and first world problems are back! I promise I will still be kind to them when they walk past. It looks like they are still waiting on their food, so I may be them out the door. I wonder if the kid is whining because he is hungry. I have been here for awhile, and they were here when I got here.
It is great to see so many happy families out and about. The view from where I am sitting suggests that life is returning to normal. If I flip from this webpage to the news, I will find stories that suggests we are far from back to normal. I think that people do fear the virus, and the virus is continuing to spread, but we are not able to hide from it on lockdown. It is also likely that the rises in reported cases is linked to the rise in testing. I think that we lived with the virus for much longer than we realize. I just hope and pray that we do not go through another shutdown, and that the schools are open in the fall.
Speaking of families, the boys will be home for the week after dinner tonight. I am still debating whether to do the meal planning and grocery shopping myself today or to let them do it themselves tomorrow. I have plenty of other things that I would like to get done today, but I also feel like grocery shopping. I will never be one to use curbside pick up. I really like going to the grocery store.
Little Chirp wants to make tacos out of the taco soup recipe this week. He has only reminded me of this idea a dozen times. He likes to make tacos out of chili, so it is sort of the same thing. Beef prices seem to be stabilizing, so I see no reason we could not make this happen. I have been wanting to make grilled cheese sandwiches. It has been years since I made a grilled cheese. I am not sure why this sounds so good. I almost went to the store yesterday to get stuff to make it.
Whatever winds up being on the menu, it will be a fun week. It will also be our last week together for a solid two weeks. The next week, Brainy Bird is going to church camp, and Little Chirp is visiting his aunt. The week after that, the boys are with Dad on summer vacation.
I am excited about the week ahead.
It is the little things in life.
