The weekend is coming to an end, and another long work week is about to begin. Potatoe is asleep next to my chair, and Storme is snuggled up on the chair next to me. He has already claimed his spot in my new home “office”. Trooper is laying on the couch in the room with us, and Pumpkine is asleep on my bed. Potatoe will be sulking again tomorrow when I let my tiniest fur kid sleep in the bed again tonight. I am certainly not going to kick her out when it is time for bed.
I am wrapping up my Sunday, and Facebook took me for a stroll down memory lane. I have nine Facebook memories today.
The first is a few pictures of Storme and Potatoe from last year when Storme was still a kitten. Potatoe and I are ready for bed, and Storme is ready for a hunt. Storme was entirely an indoor kitty back then, and he would wait at the door for Potatoe when Potatoe would go outside. Storme would also ransack the house from time to time on some kind of imaginary indoor hunt.
The second memory is also a picture of Potatoe from last year, except it is not night time, it is at 5 AM in the morning. He is snuggled up on his pillow, and he does not want to get out of bed. Not much has changed this past year. Potatoe is not a morning dog or a night dog. He is a “snuggle up and sleep most of the time dog”.
The third memory is a picture of the boys at Hershey Park in Pennsylvania two years ago. This was an amazing vacation. In the picture we are at the chocolate tasting. Both boys are focused on what the narrator of the chocolate tasting is saying. I miss summer vacations.
The fourth memory is a picture of Kyle two years ago, the morning of the chocolate tasting. We are at a Mom and Pop breakfast place. I remember the place well; it was delicious. Brainy Bird did not make it to breakfast that morning; he chose to sleep in instead. I guess the chocolate at the chocolate tasting was his breakfast.
The fifth memory is a picture of Irma, one of my best friends, and I on vacation in Cancun 3 years ago. Note to self – “wear that dress more often.” This was the night that we went to a wine paired tasting dinner together with her mother in law. To this day, this was one of my best vacation dinners ever.
The sixth memory is from the same day 3 years ago in Cancun, but it is earlier in the day. I am playing pool with the Birds, and there is a video of Brainy Bird choking on the winning shot. I went on to win the game. I love the video because Little Chirp is so into the game. He looks so little!
The seventh memory is a post from my friend Chris Gonzales. The post was made in 2016. He passed away in 2018. Chris was worried about the way that the generations are evolving. There is a picture on the left that is meant to depict our days in middle school. The girls are all sitting innocently eating popsicles. This does actually depict our middle school days. In the second picture, meant to depict middle school girls today, the girls are taking a selfie, trying to look hot in the picture. Sadly, this is an accurate depiction of today. I miss Chris; I miss the way that life was back when we were in middle school today.
The eighth memory is five years old. Little Chirp is tiny. He is being dropped off at Slumber Falls, my favorite place on Earth. There is a picture of him at Vespers and a picture of him at camp check in. He is all smiles.
The last memory is from the same day that I dropped Little Chirp at camp five years ago. It is a picture of Little Chirp, Brainy Bird and my Aunt Peggy at Dragon Place in Seguin, TX. We had gone with her to her church that morning, and we were enjoying lunch. The boys loved Dragon Place. Sadly, Dragon Place has since shutdown. I love this picture. I remember the day too, and it was one of those perfect days.
June 28th has been a good day to me through out the years. Thank you to Facebook for the June 28th memories today.
