Potatoe and I started our day with a hot and muggy run at 5 AM this morning. The heat is to the point that he cannot even go for a walk once the sun is up, much less a run. This motivates me to get up an extra hour early to run. Potatoe’s day revolves around going for a run with me in the morning and snuggling with me at night. He is the perfect companion.
The kitties convinced me that they needed breakfast at 4:30 this morning. They have yet to lay down for their morning naps. To the contrary, they are spastically running all over the house. They seem to be playing some sort of “hunt the iRobot vacuum” game. At one point earlier this morning, Trooper had climbed all the way to the top of the floor to ceiling curtain that covers the double doors to the back patio.
I guess we have the opposite of a case of the Mondays.
The 6:30 AM news is just now coming on. The news is dominated with Covid19 updates. Worldwide there have been 10.1 million reported cases of the virus with 500,000 deaths. Three of the largest states – Texas, California and Florida have scaled back reopening plans. The trailer is that Texas bar owners are going to fight back against the governor’s shutdown orders. I hope to see something done on a united front. Sigh, again if you do not feel safe, stay home. Closing bars when so much else is open just does not make sense.
I can hear the cats scurrying together down the hallway. Smile 🙂
A couple of months ago, Texas shutdown the Louisiana/Texas border to keep the virus outbreak in Louisiana from spreading to Texas. Now, Louisiana is weighing the possible shutdown of the border to keep the outbreak in Texas from spreading to Louisiana. I think it is only fair if they do so as we did this to them, but again, I think the spread of the virus is inevitable. We cannot stop it. Stopping our lives and closing our economy is only creating a new set of challenges.
The kitties are now slowly wondering into the extra room in the house, which I am claiming as my office this week. Storme has grabbed a spot in the window, and Pumpkine has just checked to see if that other cat that is a mirror image of her is still in the closet. She did not feel the need to attack the other cat in the closet this morning, and she has now joined Storme in the window. Storme seems to be weighing whether or not he is sharing the window ceil this morning. Pumpkine just got kicked out of the window ceil, and she has now claimed a spot on the little couch.
Potatoe is snuggle up next to me under the table that I am working at. He will sleep a good portion of the day after our four mile run this morning.
I am liking my new workspace. The only thing missing from my workspace this morning is Trooper. My guess is that he is still playing in the living room curtain. He loves that curtain.
The news has moved on from the virus to the Sahara dust and weather. The short is that it is crazy hot outside, muggy even by Houston standards, and we have a layer of dust in the air to add to the hot, wet blanket we call our atmosphere.
The news has moved on to a retail store update. A clothing store that I have never heard of is closing. Big news – Costco food samples are coming back. I miss those food samples, but they are no longer selling the sheet cakes. What do sheet cakes have to do with anything?
Well it is time to get to work. Have a great week all.
