On Thursday, I declared this weekend family weekend. This is our last weekend at home before school starts. We are at the midpoint of the three day weekend. I am loving right now.
I got up crazy early this morning, and I started a deep cleaning of the house. I like to have the house in order for the start of school. I woke the boys up around 7:30 to help me. Both kids brought super positive attitudes to cleaning. We are almost finished, which means we will have the afternoon to play games and watch movies.
It is now time for our lunch break. Little Chirp is making his famous beef sliders, and Brainy Bird is putting the tater tots into the pan.
The conversation is fun. Little Chirp is critiquing the way his sliders look when he uses his slider press to make them. He is explaining to his brother techniques for making beef perfectly absorb its seasoning.
I love sitting quietly and listening to them. Little Chirp does about 75% of the talking. Brainy Bird is a master at interjecting insightful information and clever jokes here and there, so that Little Chirp does not feel like he is talking to himself. Little Chirp is named Little Chirp for a reason.
Now, Little Chirp is scolding Brainy Bird for not having the tater tots in the pan yet, while continuing his lecture on seasoning beef. Now Little Chirp is talking about how long the sliders are supposed to cook, and how he makes it up as he goes. Little Chirp just got the cheese out and discovered that it expires on Brainy Birds birthday. Both boys are smiling and laughing.
The tater tots are in the oven, and now we wait. Little Chirp is trying to convince his brother that it is time for Mario Party while they wait for the oven timer to ding. I am hungry, and I am looking forward to the meal that they are cooking.
