The presidential election is in 37 days. I hope that will bring an end to some of the madness going on in America right now. More than anything, I hope that some how in four years the presidential election looks very different. I hope that the Democratic Party is under new leadership, and I hope that the Republicans bring forth a candidate that everyone in America can get behind.
One can only hope.
I honestly think that there is room for a new political party. The party would be comprised of non-career politicians. The party would support equal rights for all not just with words, but with clear actions. The party would protect gay rights, and equality in the workforce for women and minorities. The party would have the full support of our military and the police. The party would begin rebuilding the cities that are in shambles by building the economy and providing education and opportunities.
The party would focus on capitalism and bridging the economic disparity in our country. Yes, this means that employers will have to pay their employees more. There would be substantial tax burdens on companies that are paying their C-Suite employees more than 20 times their lowest paid employees, thus providing incentives to pay employees more. The party would sever the link between employment and healthcare, which would drastically reduce the cost of healthcare.
The party would shift prison funding to funding education. The party would overhaul our system of higher education. The party would hold the media accountable forcing them back to journalism instead of editorialism. The party would seek to open up dialogue between the Democrats and Republicans to unite us as Americans.
The party would have two years of mandatory service after high school. This could be military, fire, police or humanitarian service. The service would seek to shape our youth and expose them to the vast opportunities in our world. This service would be compensated through 2 years of free higher education, which could be traditional college or trade school. An optional 3 and 4 year of service, would be rewarded with additional years of free higher education.
The party would eliminate trade with communist countries, and any country that oppresses their people. The party would reward companies for making their products in America and employing Americans.
We would call the party, “America’s Party.”
If we are going to dream, why not dream big?
