All of the humans and Potatoe are off to bed early in our little house. The fur kids with whiskers are out and about after their morning naps, followed by their afternoon slumbers in cozy spots in what is now officially my home office.
Potatoe was laying at the foot of the bed giving me his Can I come cuddle Mommy? look until I patted the spot next to me. He came over for a cuddle, and now he is asleep on the pillow next to me. Potatoe is usually ready for bed early. He only stays up late when I we go somewhere or if I seem worried or sad.
Little Chirp had more homework than usual. He sat at the kitchen island working on his school work while I cooked dinner. He takes his work seriously. As soon as we finished dinner, he was off to his basketball court to practice for a couple of hours. I doubt that he is as tired as the rest of us are, but he grabbed a shower a bit ago, and he too headed off to bed.
Brainy Bird was visibly tired tonight. We have been busy every night with his college applications and work on the remodeling of the house. After dinner, he said that he simply needed the night off. My guess is that he is already asleep even thought it is barely 8 o’clock. Tomorrow, the seniors get to paint their parking spaces. It is a major fundraiser for the senior class each year. You “buy” a parking space, and you get to spend a day of school painting your spot. I can tell he is excited about it.
The work days have been long. It feels like it should be Thursday, not Tuesday, but work is going well on all fronts. We had some big wins at work today, but the biggest highlight of my day was cooking a delicious dinner on my own. That sounds funny. The boys do so much of the cooking, and they are so incredibly good at it that I am losing my own cooking skills. Tonight, I followed a recipe for red chicken curry, and I got a stamp of approval from both boys, and the recipe is 100% on my diet.
It feels so good to be having our family dinners in a nice, clean house again. I love our little house, and I love how close living her puts me to retirement and financial freedom.
It is the little things in life…
