We are now just 14 days away from the presidential election. CNN’s headlines are scathing against Trump. They find no fallacy in Biden or the sketchy overseas business dealings of his son. FoxNews’ biggest story is of the scandal. The next presidential debate is on Thursday.

I wrapped my work day up a few minutes ago. I like to start super early, so that I am free once the boys are home from school. Brainy Bird is in the living room doing homework, and Little Chirp has gone for a walk. Little Chirp can’t play basketball right now because the people doing the countertop work for the garage apartment are taking up the entire driveway. It appears that a walk is the next best thing. My guess is that if I were to walk around to the cul-de-sac in the neighborhood next to us that I would find Little Chirp at the basketball hoop that seems to permanently sit in the cul-de-sac.

All of the fur kids are in the home office with me. They just finished dinner. The cats are cleaning themselves, as if they are getting ready for a night out on the town. Potatoe was attempting to crawl into my lap, but realized that my hands are busy typing, so he settled for a spot on the floor next to me.

Speaking of dinner, Little Chirp is making tuna steaks with wasabi butter sauce tonight. I am looking forward to this. He has taken over a great deal of the cooking the past couple of weeks as Brainy Bird is extremely busy with his college and scholarship applications.

Yesterday, Little Chirp made homemade chicken noodle soup for their lunches this week. He could hardly wait for Brainy Bird to get home and provide his feedback on his homemade lunch. Brainy Bird’s feedback was that he had too much broth and that the Thermos was too full, causing it to spill when he opened it. Little Chirp smiled at this. He knows the soup that he made is delicious. They have enough for lunch again tomorrow; I am sure Little Chirp will again be anxiously awaiting Brainy Bird’s feedback.

The highlight of today is a letter that Brainy Bird received from the University of South Carolina. I know how badly he wants to go to college out of state, but out of state tuition is so expensive. We just don’t have the money. The letter is an invitation to apply for their honors college and a scholarship that qualifies them for in-state tuition. This would be a dream come true. Something tells me that the application process, which has been plagued with mishaps outside of his control, is about to turn around for Brainy Bird.

I am looking forward to dinner and family night tonight, which will likely consist of a game of Catan. Little Chirp has been begging to play Catan the last few times that we have played board games

This time next year, Brainy Bird will be off to college. We treasure everyone of the days that we have until Brainy Bird goes off to college.

It is the little things in life…
