Little Chirp looks forward to things.  He has his social and school calendars memorized, and he has his own little methods for keeping the days straight.  What’s up next is one of his favorite topics of conversation.   He will say things like, “there will be a Wednesday, and then the next time that it is Wednesday, my class is going to the rodeo.”  Or, “There’s Saturday, which is always good because I can play video games, then Sunday then Monday and Tuesday, where I have to go to school  (his speech speeds up as the big day gets closer), but on Wednesday (his speech slows for dramatization), it is….my….birthday!!!!.”

His words keep ringing happily in my head.

This week, I am right there with Little Chirp on anticipating the upcoming days.  Tomorrow, I am going for a 10 mile run, and then I am headed to the office.  That may not sound like a great way to spend a Sunday, but  I am looking forward to my run, and we are going to start some new projects next week at work.  I am looking forward to going to the office and getting everything organized for my team for their new projects.

Monday, my little birds come home from their visit with their dad.  I am ready to whip their tails at a few rounds of Sorry! Sliders.  Okay, I admit that it has been a long time since I actually won a game.  Brainy Bird has freakish hand eye coordination.  He sits quietly strategically planning his every move, and wins more often than not.  Little Chirp has his own solid hand eye coordination.  He gets wrapped up in the energy of the game, and becomes wreck-less   When he pays attention he can win.  To date, he is the only one with four automatic homes in round one.  This is like bowling a 300.

On Tuesday, we are celebrating Little Chirp’s birthday.  His party will be in a couple weeks because we are planning it around Easter, but Tuesday at our house will be all about Little Chirp.  I am excited about making him a special meal; I love seeing how happy a specially cooked meal makes him, and I love watching him gobble it all down.  After dinner, I have a few special games planned for him.  Little Chirp always loves a day of Little Chirp.

On Wednesday, Little Chirp’s greatly anticipated Easter Egg hunt at school is taking place.  This is also his birthday.  I am surprising him with hand decorated Easter cookies from his favorite bakery for his entire class.

On Wednesday and Thursday nights the B’s will be back at their dad’s house.  I am going to CrossFit on both days, happy hour afterwards on Wednesday, and running afterwards on Thursday.  The happy hour is for someone that is leaving the company that I work for.  I hate to see the guy go.  I really like working with him and the people that he has working for him.  The one upside is the happy hour will be mostly him and his people, and I look forward to hanging out with all of them.

I am off on Friday and the Little Birds and I are heading to Fiesta Texas.  This is a surprise for them.  I am greatly anticipating the car ride to San Antonio with the two of them guessing the whole way there where we are going.  Little Chirp will guess everything from Disney Land to the Moon, while each of Brainy Bird’s guesses will be carefully calculated based on the direction that we are headed, the weather and I what I have dressed them in.  He is going to want the answer to be that we are headed to New Braunfels to see his aunt (my sister).

After Fiesta Texas, we will in fact head to my sister’s place.  This will generate as much, if not more excitement than Fiesta Texas.  Some time along the way, my brother will be joining us (more excitement for the B’s), and we will all be enjoying a nice Easter brunch followed by, a surprise trip from the Easter Bunny.

I am always looking forward to the days that await.  I am blessed with a fun, eventful life.  As I have said before, I am happy each and every day.
