It is another beautiful day here in Houston. The weather is a trifecta – cold, still, and sunny. Brainy Bird is in the work room doing research for a research paper required for one of his scholarships. I enjoy watching his process. He started off with a broad topic, and he is narrowing in on his thesis. I can tell he enjoys doing the research. He has read two books and interviewed an expert in cyber security all to write a 600 word research paper. He is serious about this!
Little Chirp just got out of the shower, got dressed and then headed past me without saying good morning. I saw him walk from the back door out to his basketball court. He is either sneaking over to the garage apartment for a snack, or about to shoot some hoops.
Potatoe is laying on the couch on a blanket. He seemed to struggle with whether to lay by Brainy Bird’s feet in the workroom or under my desk in the kitchen. He settled on being half way between the two of us. Yesterday, Brainy Bird worked at the kitchen island, and Potatoe laid in between our chairs.
Trooper is sticking with his usual routine – play all night, eat, sleep all day, eat, repeat. He is snuggled up in his basket by the fireplace. Storme is out and about, enjoying the beautiful weather. Pumpkine is snuggled up next to Potatoe. She likes to have a fur kid or human to snuggle with.
Little Chirp is indeed at his basketball court. Storme has perched himself in the grass, watching his person practice their favorite sport.
I switched to decaf coffee yesterday. I am still alive. By 3 pm, I had a subtle headache. I think that I slept better last night than I have the past couple of months. This could be the absence of caffeine or the reduction in stress. My project got a go decision on Thursday, and it feels good to have this complete on time and within budget.
Additionally, while Brainy Birds feels he needs additional scholarships to avoid a mountain of debt when he graduates, he has an exciting, somewhat affordable path forward for his collegiate endeavors. For family following along, he will NOT be an Aggie in the fall. Because of his class rank, he is automatically accepted to both Texas A&M and Texas. He has other plans. There is likely to be an ACC/SEC, SEC/Big 10 or intra-SEC rivalry in the house soon. I am stoked!
I am without a doubt living vicariously through Brainy Bird in my front row seat of his college search. His methodical process and rigorous execution of his process rivals what I saw in Big 4 consulting. His focus on ROI and the degree programs assures me. His desire to have a true college experience makes me happy. Life is not all computers and math.
