There is a cat’s tail in the middle of the screen of my laptop right now. The other end of the cat is purring away, giving Potatoe kisses. Storme begged to go outside tonight, so I finally let him, despite the cold, rainy weather. Right before I got to bed, I opened the backdoor from my bedroom, and he came barreling in, ready for a snuggle. Now, he is happy to be warm. His brother is climbing the drapes, begging to go outside.
We are just 10 days into 2021, and I am still not sure what to make of it all. Conspiracy theories run rampant on social media along with intense hate and anger on both sides. Many people are signing off for good. I am not sure why I haven’t done that yet.
I will say it one more time, it is not the Republicans or the Democrats that are the problem, it is the career politicians and lobbyist. They are winning right now. The forefront of the turmoil right now is free speech vs. the detriment of fake news and violent threats on our country. There is no question that social media is a huge driver of the conflict. I just wish that people would come to realize that left or right is not the correct answer, love and understanding is the answer.
It is just a few minutes until 9 PM. Storme is still snuggled up next to me, but his tail is now curled around him, and he is fast asleep. He has allergies in the fall and winter months, so he lightly snores at night. Potatoe is asleep on the other side of the bed as if he is entitle to a whole side of the bed. He is supposed to sleep at the foot of the bed, but came to lay up by the pillow out of jealousy of Storme snuggling with me. Pumpkine is down at the foot of the bed next to where Potatoe normally sleeps as if she is waiting for her big stinky doggie companion to join her. Trooper also had a brief run in the cold outdoors early this evening, and he is resigned to being inside for the night. He is too tough to be snuggling, so he is laying on the floor to the right of me.
All four fur kids and the two human kids are fast asleep. I will be too in just a bit. Another week of 2021 begins. I am as curious to know what this week will bring.
