I kicked my week off with positive energy. Potatoe woke me up early for a snuggle. I think he secretly wanted to get the spot closest to me before Pumpkine did. Pumpkine spends more and more time inside, and she is wanting more and more affection. Us humans enjoy this, Potatoe not so much.

I got out of bed early, and I got all of my morning chores done before sunrise. Then, just as the sun started to peek out from the horizon, I took Potatoe for a walk in my neighborhood. It is a beautiful day in the making.

Brainy Bird will wake up to find out that he has been directly accepted into the University of Texas’ computer science major. This also means that I looked at his email. I don’t normally look at his email. He had used my computer to check his email earlier in the day, and he did not log out. His plan is to attend Texas in the event that he does not have enough scholarship money to be able to go to one of the out of state colleges that are at the top of his list. At the rate he is going, he is not going to be longhorn. Life isn’t bad when UT’s computer science program is one’s safety school.

Ultimately, I love seeing his hard work pay off. I had to laugh yesterday, he finally had a day off in I don’t know when. I went to check on him and his brother, and I found him programming. Today, he will spend his day working on enhancements for MyBlankJob. They are pushing a soft launch this week, and I am excited for him.

I will spend my day on chores around the house, and administrative tasks for work, so that I can focus on work when the week kicks off. Little Chirp will undoubtedly spend the bulk of the day out at his basketball court enjoying the glorious weather. Little Chirp will be master chef tonight. He loves to make a soup for dinner on Sunday that he can put in their lunches during the week.

I have a few fun things to occupy my time over the next couple of weeks. One of them is going to be planning Brainy Bird’s 18th birthday celebration. He turns 18 in just 18 days. For his birthday, I am booking him a trip to visit the out of state schools that are on his short list. I know he wants to go, but he has not wanted to ask me for money. When I looked in his email, I found that he has been researching the cost to visit on his own.

It is going to be a long, stressful week, but I believe that I am kicking it off with a positive mindset. I am organized and ready to succeed. Let the week begin!
