I went out everyday for about thirty minutes and practiced riding my bike back and forth on my cul-de-sac street. Elbow and knee pads would have been nice, but I remember putting them on my kid in the old neighbor. The neighbors had a field day with it. I don’t really see how something that keeps you from getting skinned up is comical or over cautious.
After a couple of weeks, a few major falls, and a collision with a car I was able to leave my street on my bike. No worries, the car wasn’t hurt it was just my shoulder and pride that was injured when I smashed into the car. I would like to say that it moved quickly into my lane, but it was in parked in its driveway. I like my blue helmet.
The day I left my street, I road 30 miles. I did the same five mile loop around my neighborhodd 6 times getting a little faster and more steady each time.
I was not at all tired from the ride, but I knew that I needed a different seat. There is no way that anyone could ride any notable distance with a seat that hurt that much. I got a new seat from bike barn, and I signed up for a 55 mile training ride in Cypress.
