It is the first day of February 2021. The year continues to show signs of normalcy, but most continue to approach the year with caution. We are coming up on the one year anniversary of the “New Normal”, and the chaos that the pandemic brought in 2020. It is hard to believe that nearly an entire year has passed.
This day last year was a Saturday, and it was a rare day that I was home. Now, being home is the norm, and going anywhere is a break in my routine.
It is a cool, sunny day here in Houston. Storme and Potatoe are snuggled up together under my desk. Trooper is enjoying his favorite spot by the fireplace, and Pumpkine is snuggled up in a blanket on my bed. The boys are off to school.
In 48 hours, Brainy Bird turns 18. Today marks the first day of the week of Brainy Bird. I intended to have donuts waiting for him when he came into the kitchen this morning. This plan was foiled by a mini-power outage. I inadvertently flipped the CFI plug off in my bathroom last night. This took out the power to both bathrooms, and the plugs along my bathroom wall, including the plug for my alarm clock. I woke up late, and I did not have time to go for a donut run. I wound up giving the boys money for donuts on their way to school. My guess is that they did not stop for donuts, and they now have money for snacks in their pockets.
I am looking more forward to this week than I have looked forward to anything in a long time. I hope to get all of my work done in four days, so I can enjoy a day off on Friday. I can hardly wait to be on our tour of the University of South Carolina. I am looking forward to every minute of this little trip with the boys. The tour is the thing that I am looking the most forward to.
It is time to grab my second cup of coffee and start my work week. Have a great week all.
