I just finished a busy work week that included working nearly all night on Tuesday. I am now sitting on my back porch admiring the beautiful day that God has blessed us with. Potatoe is close by sharing my admiration for the day’s beauty. The kitties have spent their day napping. They will wake in a bit and be looking for their dinner.
I feel that the boys and I have weathered the storm both figuratively and literally. Literally, as I look back on the not so long ago freeze, and figuratively as I think about everything that we have endured and accomplished in the past few months.
For me, I just finished a huge project at work with incredibly tight deadlines. We did the impossible, and we met the deadlines. I enjoyed the work. I got to do some programming and detailed work, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also liked seeing the team dynamics evolve. Everyone more than came together to be a part of one successful team.
For Little Chirp, he has pulled a 97 percent overall average thus far in seventh grade, and with one grading period to go, there is every indication that he is going to hold strong with that average. His wrist has healed, and he is happy to be back on the basketball court. We have joined a gym together, where he has kids to shoot hoops with.
For Brainy Bird, the college application process is officially over. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had no idea how grueling and time consuming the application process is. He said the other evening that he felt out of place because he suddenly has free time, and he does not know what to do with it.
He has officially enrolled in the college of his choice, and he has so much to look forward to: prom, graduation, graduation parties, Slumber Falls Camp, family vacations, college registration, a college retreat, and some restful days before he goes off to college.
On a macro level, the fears of the pandemic are fading, and life is slowly returning to normal. Having March Madness back definitely provides a sense of normalcy. Last Saturday, I went to a brewery that was hosting a horror festival. It was pretty neat, and I liked that people were out and about, yet still being smart about it. Wearing masks totally works at a horror festival.
Tomorrow, we are going to do some summer planning, including the planning of a family vacation. I love the idea of being able to go any where in the US that we want to go. I like the fact that this vacation will not revolve around college tours. I am leaning towards the north east. A friend of mine has a cabin on the water in Connecticut, and he is always telling me that I should take the boys. I have always wanted to eat a lobster from Maine.
We are living again, and it feels amazing!
