I was supposed to leave today to go to New Braunfels to visit my sister. When that was cancelled, I was supposed to go out with friends to see and 80’s band. I wound up canceling on my night out. I plan to go running at 6:45 AM, and a late night out does not mix well with an early morning run. I am now sitting on my back porch, taking in the scenery.

The fig tree is now full of leaves. The start of my herb garden sits in the full sun. All four animals are gathered around me taking naps in the breezy afternoon. A squirrel runs through the yard every so often, and red bird sits at the top of the fig tree, creating a majestic setting. A butterfly is fluttering around the shrubs.

I can hear the cars on Spring Cypress, but it is more of a white sound than a nuisance. Traffic has picked up dramatically the past few months as the restrictions from the pandemic have been lifted.

Occasionally, the wind picks up rustles the canopy of the trees so much that the sound of the rustling trees drowns out the sound of the chirping birds. Potatoe lifts his head up from his nap every time the rustling picks up. The three kitties do not budge. I guess Potatoe is on guard for the fur herd right now.

Potatoe is soft and fluffy from his spa day on Thursday. He wants to sit in my lap, but it is hard to type with a big fluffy dog in my lap; moreover, it is a hot, sunny afternoon. The heat that Texas is famous for us now upon us. I should have taken an extra 30 minutes to run on the last cool day that we had this past week. That cool day will be the last one until at least September.

The day feels so peaceful and happy this is a healthy way to end a long, stressful week. My mental reset is definitely working. Tomorrow, I will wake up to a new week. I will kick the week of with a run with my new running club. Then I am taking the boys to TopGolf and The Melting Pot. In the afternoon, Little Chirp and I will head to the gym. We will make our second gym trip of the week on Monday. Tuesday is our official family day. The boys will cook dinner, and then we will play games. On Wednesday, I have not yet decided what I am going to do, but I plan to venture out to some place new. On Thursday, there is another running event that I plan to attend. On Friday, I plan to have a quiet evening at home with Little Chirp. Then on Saturday, I plan to go and see a friend play at one of my favorite local venues. This is going to be a great week.

Stay tuned…
