Little Chirp and I are sitting at the kitchen island. He just told me that he wants to leave in six minutes. He explained that this gives him just enough time to finish his tea and brew one more cup before we head to his school. Little Chirp has always liked hot tea; he has just started drinking it before school in the morning. I think that taking time in the morning for cup of tea or coffee and a little bite to eat is a both a mentally and physically healthy way to start the day.

Brainy Bird is already at school. He has his Calculus 2 AP exam this morning. He needs to make a 4 to get college credit for Calculus 2 at the University of South Carolina, which is where he is headed in the fall. He wants to start college with vector calculus, so he needs calculus 2 complete before he gets there. He helped me give Pumpkine her medicine this morning, and then he left early for school. He left confident and upbeat about his exam this morning.

Pumpkine is making a slow recovery from her surgery. She has a long way to go. She is by my side every moment that I am home whether I am awake or asleep. I can tell that she is still in pain, and that she does not like her stitches at all, but she purrs for me when I snuggle her close.

I have a long work day ahead, but I plan to take an hour out in the late afternoon to take Little Chirp to the gym. I am loving our new healthy lifestyle. I feel good again, and I like the way that I look in my shorts. I also enjoy the drive back and forth to the gym with Little Chirp. He tells me the most random things. Until now, he has always been in the back seat with Brainy Bird and I up front in the car.

Yesterday, Little Chirp and I got home from the gym to find that Brainy Bird had dinner ready for us. Brainy Bird was especially excited about a new recipe for Brussel sprouts. It was so good! I need to start thinking of healthy dinners that I can have ready for Little Chirp and I after the gym. It won’t be long and Brainy Bird will be off to South Carolina!

We are embracing every minute of our time together. I feel blessed and focused. Now if I could just get my taxes done this weekend! Doh!
