It is a beautiful, sunny day in Houston, and I could not be in better spirits. Brainy Bird and I arrived home at around 1 AM this morning. Thunderstorms drove the rescheduling of our trip home from Wednesday to Thursday. Then the thunderstorms made an encore appearance, which delayed our flight by more than four hours. We spent a good portion of the delay on the plane on the tarmac. Receiving a flash flood warning while sitting on an airplane made for an interesting trip home.
Despite being completely exhausted, I felt a rush of warmth and happiness when I walked in the door this morning. Pumpkine greeted me first as she met me on the back porch as I was coming into the house. Storme and Trooper were inside, all three kitties gathered around for greetings and a scratch on the head. Storme and Trooper then wanted to go out, leaving me and Pumpkine.
I grabbed a shower, while Pumpkine paced anxiously around my room. As soon as I snuggled up in bed and turned out the lights, she jumped up next to me, purring and licking my hand. Despite being painfully tired, her little purr and snuggles let me know that she missed me. She made my day.
Pumpkine spent a good part of the morning meowing and wondering around the house, going to all of the places that one would normally find Potatoe. We could not pick Potatoe up from his doggie resort until they opened this morning. After an exhaustive search for Potatoe, Pumpkine finally settled down on the chair next to me while I started my work day.
I just returned a bit ago with Potatoe, and as if to prove she is the most loving kitty on the planet, as soon as she saw Potatoe, Pumpkine adjusted her position on the chair next to me in order to make room for her doggie brother. Now Potatoe and Pumpkine are snuggled up next to me. While I am going about my work day.
There is no place like home. Home is where my cat is, and her home is where my dog is. Life is pretty amazing.
