Taking the Wheel – Day 1 of 100

I woke up early this morning in excited anticipation of focusing on my new goals. I feel well rested in contrast to the feeling of being completely wiped out that I felt all day yesterday. Whatever the source of my fatigue was yesterday, I managed to sleep it off with a good night of rest last night.

I took extra time to greet my fur kids this morning and give them their breakfast. While they chowed down, I stepped on the scale, and I saw a number that frightens me. I assured myself that number is temporary.

I organized my cookbooks and did some light housekeeping. I always enjoy looking through my cookbooks. I get that they are antiquated, but I will always love cookbooks. Once I finished my trip down memory lane, I finished the food menu and grocery shopping list.

I am now sipping green tea in place of my usual cup of coffee. Trooper and Potatoe are laying together on the couch, enjoying their morning naps. My iPad is streaming ESPN College Day. This week, dubbed “week zero”, has just a handful of teams playing, with no exciting matchups. I only tuned in for a sense of normalcy. I will tune in with more interest next week when games are in full swing.

The house is too quiet. Little Chirp is with his dad this weekend. I am taking the opportunity of an entire weekend to myself to get ahead of my work week and get the house more organized. When I get back from the grocery store, I will spend the rest of the morning cleaning and organizing my kitchen in anticipation of my new healthy goals. I will spend the afternoon completing work tasks.

This evening, I will take Potatoe for a long walk, and I will sit down on my back porch and work on my book. I am still deciding which of the three books I have in progress that I will work on. I am closing my week out on a highly productive note, and I am looking forward to the week ahead.
