The newest addition to the Storey family is fast asleep, snuggled up closely to an exhausted Little Chirp. The sweet little kitty is definitely Little Chirp’s cat. He does not want to leave Little Chirp’s side. The kitty is a Siamese mix with unique coloring. His ears, feet, legs, tail, and the center of his face are black, while the rest of him is the dirty white fur of a Siamese cat. He is unique, meek, and beautiful.
His official name is Smore. His name in my heart is Tao. We got Smore from a NextDoor post, and we hit the kitty jackpot. I was nervous about going to a stranger’s home to get a new kitty, but we were cautious. They too were cautious as they were waiting outside for us when we got there. They were also extremely nice people.
We had a bit of a time getting Smore to come to us, but once he was in our arms, he had no intention of going anywhere other than home with us. We put him in our cat carrier, and he did not make a peep the whole drive home. Once we were home, Little Chirp let him out of the carrier, and all Smore wanted to do was lay on Little Chirp’s chest.
After a little get acquainted time, we put Smore in the bathroom to give him a little space. He spent the time in the bathroom, looking for a place to hide, which is what most cats do when in an unfamiliar place. Smore adorably hid behind the shower curtain, which was pulled all the way to one side, giving him just a small spot to hide.
After about an hour, Smore cried out as if he did not want to be alone anymore. He snuggled in Little Chirp’s lap for a bit, and then Little Chirp decided on a nap. We got up at 5:00 AM to go and run in a charity race this morning. Little Chirp crushed it, taking first place in his age group. I have no doubt that he is tired after all of that.
Today has been an exceptional day. It feels really good to have a new kitty in our house. There is a possibility that we will be getting a third kitty. There was another cat with Smore that we really wanted, but someone else was already supposed to come for it. If they do not get the kitty as planned, then we will have a third kitty, which we will name Marshmallowe.
