Fall is not only here on the calendar; fall is here in a cool whispering breeze. We finally have some relief from the hottest summer that I can ever remember.
Echo and Winter are none the wiser. My two little indoor kittens are becoming more and more secure in their new surroundings, and they are becoming more and more playful. The two are running about in the front room where I work from home. They seem to be exploring the space. Wherever one goes, the other follows. If at any point one realizes they are without the other, the one will cry until they are back together again.
I need to get a video of Winter’s exceptional vertical leap. It is adorable to see a kitten jump more than twice her own height with her arms wide out as if she is offering a hug to anything in front of her. I think she has not quite figured out what to do with her leaping abilities. Now the two are jumping in and out of the bar chairs as if they are on a kitten playground.
Potatoe is laying on the floor beside my chair watching the kittens dart about. Trooper scarfed down his breakfast earlier this morning, and then wanted to go back outside. I think he is enjoying the fall weather.
I am looking forward to the upcoming days. Today, I will finish up my work week. I worked a few extra hours each day this week to make today significantly less stressful. Tomorrow, I leave for South Carolina. I will spend most of the day traveling. It has been way too long since I had a travel day. I enjoy travel days because they lend themselves to spending a great deal of time writing.
I will get to South Carolina just in time to take Brainy Bird to dinner. We are not sure where dinner will be. I am not sure how things will be without a reservation with it being parent’s weekend, but we could not decide on a place for a reservation.
On Friday, I plan to get my nails done while Brainy Bird is in class. Then we have reservations for a nice lunch, and we will spend our weekend enjoying the parent’s weekend activities at the University of South Carolina. This will be my fourth trip to the university, and my first trip since Brainy Bird began classes. I cannot wait to hear all about it!
