The highlight of my week thus far is seeing how affectionate the kittens, especially Winter, have become with Trooper. Trooper now returns the affection. Winter waits, looking out the glass pane, for Trooper to come into the backdoor each morning, and then she snuggles up against him. Trooper in turn snuggles her in the same way that he snuggles Potatoe. Trooper’s a cat’s cat, us humans, with our can opening skills, are just a necessity.
From my desk, I can see out to the front yard, littered with orange and amber leaves on a still morning. The morning is so still that the leaves that I see falling from the trees off in the distance must be the work of squirrels. This day next week will be my Friday as I plan to take the balance of the week next week off for Thanksgiving. I am almost ahead at work enough to have the three days and weekend off, without stress.
Winter just hopped up on the desk to look out the window, letting the sun cast onto her crystal blue eyes. She possesses a much greater curiosity about the outdoors than her sidekick Chewy. Chewy’s passions are attention, items around the house that are not toys, but will be treated as toys, and food.
Trooper and Potatoe are snuggled up on the couch, as they usually are this time of morning. Potatoe is not going to be happy in about an hour when he realizes that I am going to a client’s office. I won’t be home until much later. Potatoe is the only one not adjusting well to the “returning to normal”.
I am now back at the office a little over fifty percent. On my drive in each morning, I often think about this time next year. I only wrote four posts in November 2020. Three of them were about the election. I almost forgot all of the chaos around the election last year. We were all so focused on the election results. People did not think about the people that we elected. I do not think anyone could have predicted that Biden and Harris’ administrations could be so unsuccessful. It all makes me wonder what this time next year will be like.
I have so much more to write, but I need to hurry up and get ready for my day and make the dreaded drive to the Houston Galleria.
Thank you for stopping by to read my thoughts. Have a blessed day.
