I decided at the end of the workday yesterday that everything on my to-do list can wait until Monday. I am going to spend the day writing blogs for work. I get to be a writer for a day. Some day in the not so distant future, I believe that writing will be my full time profession. I am doing a great job of managing my finances and planning for my future of financial freedom, which for me means a career as a writer. Realistically, I will likely be a technical writer, creating responses for requests for proposals in the energy industry and creating online content for digital marketing. While I may never be a famous mystery writer; I will be more than happy sitting on a back porch, looking out onto lakes and mountains while I write.
To add to my special day of writing today, I set up a workspace outside. I pulled Brainy Bird’s old desk out on to my back porch, and I set up an old monitor. This is without a doubt a perfect workspace for creative thinking. I definitely plan to do this more often now that the cooler weather is here.
Potatoe is usually asleep at this time a day. Instead, he is lounging by the pool, looking around the backyard as if he is guarding my outdoor office. He is a loyal little pooch.
All three of the cats are inside napping. The kittens wrestled each other for the spot next to Trooper. Winter won for the second day in a row. Before settling in for their morning naps, the kittens stood by the sliding glass door behind me for awhile as if they were trying to figure out what Potatoe and I are doing. The glass door is open, letting the cool morning air in, and the screen door is closed, keeping my adventurous little kittens safe inside. I know they would love to be out here with me, but I cannot keep an eye on them and write at the same time.
As I look over the top of my monitor at the beautiful sunny day, and I sip my last day of my twelve days of Christmas coffee, I feel grateful for so many things. I feel grateful for the amazing weather, pajama days, and having a job that allows me to apply a diverse set of skills, including writing. I am deeply grateful for Dean’s health and second chance at life. I am grateful for the fun my coworkers and I had at TopGolf last night. I am grateful for the incredible moon God bless us with last night. I could write all day, and I would never run out of things that I am grateful for.
Thank you for stopping by to read my thoughts…
It’s 5 am, Saturday morning, and I’m sitting at my computer looking at emails. Very excited to see your blog, and 1st thing I opened! I’m no expert, but you definitely have a gift for writing, among many other talents. Enjoy your weekend!!
