I do not remember being more excited about Thanksgiving than I am this year. I plan to spend my day getting work done, so that I can be off work when Brainy Bird arrives home. I am half watching a Hallmark Christmas movie, while I sip my Christmas coffee. Today’s Christmas coffee is cinnamon hazelnut.
The Hallmark Christmas movie is the one where a man and woman are so focused on their careers that they forget to make time for important things like love and Christmas. They do not believe in the Christmas spirit, until they meet someone full Christmas spirit. By the end they find the true meaning of Christmas, and they fall in love. For those of you that do not spend time watching the Hallmark Channel, what I just described is the plot of at least half of the movies.
Another Hallmark movie just started. I think it is the one where a woman is so focused on work that she does not have time for love or Christmas, and she does not believe in Christmas. I predict she is going to fall for her lead star’s agent, but first she must find the meaning of Christmas! Ohhh…there is a history between the two. The plot thickens. Who writes this stuff?
Little Chirp’s big to-do today is to finish untangling and testing the Christmas lights. I am excited about decorating outside for the first time in our new house. This is our third Christmas here. The first, I was traveling a great deal for work, and we were still getting moved in. Then last year, I could not find someone to put the lights up. I am not one for heights, and getting to our pitched roof requires an extension ladder.
I am not sure what I am going to do about decorating inside the house. The kittens and the tree would be a disaster. I love our tree so much; I hate the idea of not putting it up. The only thing that will be a bigger disaster than the tree is wrapped presents. The kittens are obsessed with wrapping paper. Someone needs to invent an automatic spray bottle that sprays when a cat crosses within a one foot perimeter of a Christmas tree.
Ah! This Hallmark movie is a rendition of A Christmas Carol, but the ghosts are country music singers. Marley is Wynona Judd, and she is the main character’s former boss and mentor. The ghost of Christmas Past is Kix Brooks. He is the Brooks half of Brooks and Dunn. There is something oddly enjoyable about this movie. I secretly like the Hallmark Channel at Christmas.
I need to get my to-do list out, and I need to get to work! Getting my work done means Topgolf on Wednesday with both of my children instead of work. Actually, I think I am going to spoil the boys with Topgolf, and then a special meal out. My guess is that Brainy Bird is going to want Mexican food, and Little Chirp is going to want steak. I will let them sort it out. I can’t wait for Brainy Bird’s arrival home. Our family of three will be reunited!
Happy Thanksgiving all!
