We have just two more days left in 2021. I plan to spend another day at home. I know that sounds pathetic, but I never got my goals ironed out for 2022. I am also observing that the boys are loving their time together. Mid-afternoon yesterday, I said to Brainy Bird, “You do realize that you are out of quarantine, and you can literally go wherever you want right now.” His response, “Yeah, I am having fun here.”

The brothers played Super Mario Bros 2, a Nintendo classic, until they beat the game. Then they put together the Lego set that I got Brainy Bird for Christmas. Then they made fondue. The fondue was exceptional. I am in awe of how good it turned out. I never have much luck with melted cheese recipes, unless it is Velvetta. Funny, I suggested the cut the recipe in half. It is a good thing that they ignored my suggestion. After dinner, the two finished their Lego set and played some more video games.

Brainy Bird is now on his way to drop Little Chirp off at the gym for some basketball. When Brainy Bird returns, we will sip our morning coffee and chat. I have about ten days of the best Christmas coffee on the planet left. Brainy Bird is enjoying it with me. I think that drinking coffee is a rite of passage for college kids. I still feel weird saying, “college kid”.

The kittens were wild yesterday, I guess they are now resting up from their own antics the previous day. The two are snuggled together on top of my laptop. Potatoe seems to be waiting for Brainy Bird to return, as he is laying by the backdoor in a spot that he does not normally occupy. Trooper is asleep on one of the shelves in the cabinet below the television. He frequents the spot.

As if confirming my suspicious, Brainy Bird just returned from dropping of Little Chirp, and Potatoe greeted him enthusiastically. Potatoe is now laying between me and Chance as if he is running a zone on cuddles. Brainy Bird and I just made the biggest decision that we will make today, and that is what we will have for lunch. We agreed on Thai basil chicken, one of our family’s favorite and healthiest recipes. I am going to do the prep, and he is going to do the cooking. I am secretly curious to see if Brainy Bird’s Thai basil chicken will turn out as impressive as Little Chirp’s has the past few months. I am sure Little Chirp will let us know one way or another.

I just glanced over at Varney & Co. on Fox Business News, the headline read, “January 2nd is Tinder’s busiest swiping day.” Ha! The sound is turned off, so I did not hear any more than that. Maybe I should consider dating as part of my plan for 2022. I almost forgot that was a thing. Hmmm….let’s start with losing some weight, and then go from there.

As we relax these last few days of the month, I am grateful for all of the amazing things that happened in 2021. I am both nervous and excited about the year ahead.
