I cannot believe that a third of the year is already over. I still feel that I am getting into the swing of a new year. The heat is definitely upon us in Houston, but not so much that our spring has wilted away. Despite the heat and humidity, it is gorgeous outside. Trees are green, and flowers are blooming.
We are close, but not quite to the finish line with our remodeling. I am looking forward to having free time on weekend mornings to work on my writing and not feel guilty about it. Right now, every minute that I spend writing is a minute that I am neglecting an important home or work task. I am not complaining, just stating my reality.
This week will be especially eventful and busy. I leave Tuesday evening on a flight to Columbia, South Carolina. I will stay a day in Columbia to help Brainy Bird pack up his dorm room. It hard to believe that his freshman year of college ends in just three days. This time last year we were dreaming about his freshman year away at South Carolina.
Brainy Bird and I will stay the night in Columbia on Wednesday night, and then we will hit the road for the long drive to New Orleans. YES!!!!! No, New Orleans is not exactly on the way back from South Carolina. Hitting NOLA will add at least two hours of driving to our total driving time. YES!!!! We are going. No, I do not have time to spend an entire day in the car and then an entire evening dining and socializing in NOLA. YES!!!! We are doing it.
I cannot wait to see my cousin. It has been way too long since we visited, and I hate that I never got around to taking the boys. It has been so long that when we first talked about me bringing the boys the talk was of the zoo and beignets for breakfast. Now our plans consist of a fine dine and I am sure a bit of bar hopping and after dinner drinks. I will escape reality for a day, and I will enjoy every minute of it.
The week will also consist of a doctor’s appointment, meeting a potential new client, all of the usual end of month work tasks, kicking off a new project, and hopefully fixing the only issue that we have with the remodeling. That issue is a whole other story.
I am looking forward to the week, and I am looking forward to the summer. Time is running by; this blog is my forever attempt to grab a piece of time as it runs by. Have a great week all.
