It is a quarter until eight in the morning on a Saturday here on the west coast. I spent the entire week in the Pacific Coast time zone. Funny, a number of my coworkers thought that I was in California. How very American of one to assume that. Oh Canada, has way miles of coast boarding the pacific the lower 48 states do.

Having arrived here on Sunday and having only had time for work until today, I am now a mix of homesick and happy to be here. I miss the fur kids, and I would love to be spending the day with my boys, but I also revel in having a day all to myself today. I plan to take it easy, go for a walk in the rain, eat an expensive dinner, drop a few Canadian hundreds at the casino, and make small talk with those that I encounter.

As I sip my coffee and think about my life. Wow, I am happy. I mean really happy. I am so thankful to be able to travel for work again. I love reconnecting with the people in the places I visited before Covid, and I love seeing new places. I feel a deep sorrow when I think about how much was lost in the two long years of the pandemic.

This is only the second time in my entire life that I have tacked on a couple of days to a business trip for leisure. I have always needed to hurry home to take care of the boys. Having an adult child responsible enough to take good care of my younger child, is a game changer. I love having a day to relax and explore without the obligation of the hundred things that I need to get done around the house.

Speaking of the house, we are extremely close to being done with the remodeling. The carpenter is coming today to fix the hanging of the Murphy Doors. The main contractor has just a few items left to finish. The painter will at some point do the painting of the fireplace, but that can happen in time. Nothing is disrupted while the fireplace waits to be painted, in contrast to the past three months where I did not have a bathroom at all. I cannot wait to fully move back into my newly remodeled space and make a habit of soaking in my new tub.

It is a matter of weeks until little Winter goes for a swim in the tub. I routinely find her little footprints on the white porcelain of the tub. She goes to investigate every time that I drain the water out. I am looking forward to snuggle time with all of the furs when I get home.

It is time to go and explore Vancouver. Have a great Saturday.
