I am sitting at one of my favorite eateries in downtown Houston. As always, the music is too loud; almost disrupting my thoughts. Funny, I just realized that the 9:30 meeting that I drove down here for is via teams. Doh! I guess that I will enjoy my breakfast, and then I will find a quiet place to join the meeting.
The last weekend before school starts is approaching. Before the boys’ first day of school, I am having my own first day with a new client today. One of the many fun aspects of being a consultant is getting to start new projects, and sometimes that means starting some where new.
Tomorrow, will be Brainy Bird’s big day as he hits the road to drive to South Carolina. His classes start next Thursday. He has a huge course load this semester, which includes two graduate level math classes. I do not even know what linear algebra is. I guess Brainy Bird can tell me when I go to visit him later this month.
Little Chirp and I will see Brainy Bird off, and then we will go to the outlet mall to get Little Chirp some news clothes for school. We have two favorite restaurants on that side of town, so we will need decide which one to spoil ourselves with for a late lunch. After our late lunch, we will visit the grocery store. We are pretty much out of everything. Inflation is so bad that I put off going to the grocery store to try to save money.
Little Chirp’s first day of classes is on Tuesday. We still have not worked out the logistics of getting him to and from school. He is supposed to have practiced riding his bike to school, and he has yet to do that. The joys of teenagers.
I am looking forward to a weekend off from work with Little Chirp. I will spoil my little birdie with home cooked meals, and we will play some pool volleyball. Pool volleyball is his favorite. We almost have Murphey trained to retrieve the volleyball when we hit it out of the pool. He has about a 40% return rate at this point.
I look forward to seeing what the days ahead bring for me an my boys.
