The fall weather is finally here, well at least for the morning. By the end of the day today, it will be over ninety degrees. I love the fall weather. The greeting of the cool air as I stepped outside this morning inspired me to take a moment and think about all that I am thankful for.

Both of my children made my day yesterday. Brainy Bird texted me for simple meal ideas as he was headed to the grocery store. I gave him the secret family recipe for ground meat sandwiches. Okay, it is not really a secret. The recipe is ground beef and mustard. It is the perfect college kid recipe. I never made it for him at home because the younger brother does not like mustard.

It always makes me happy to hear from Brainy Bird.

When I got home from work, I explained to Little Chirp that our Fantasy Football team’s week rested entirely on the Dallas Cowboys defense. He said, “I will watch the game with you.” We spent the evening together, chatting, analyzing our Fantasy Football team, and enjoying the game. Last night was a perfect evening.

I am so grateful to be a mother. Not only do I get to be a mother, but I get to be a mother to amazing children. Most children are not financial independent at age of eighteen. I am so proud of all that Brainy Bird has accomplished. I am also proud of how hard Little Chirp works in school. He is a happy, charismatic young man. My children are more than one could ever ask for, and I am so grateful that God chose me to be their mother.

I also get to be a mother than can afford to provide everything for her children. Being a parent is even more fun when one can afford it without any financial stress at all. I am to a point that I have enough saved to never really have to worry about my finances again. The only lingering question is whether I retire in five years or ten. I want the option to retire in five years, but I love what I do, and I will be happy either way.

I worked hard, and I made good choices in life, and I am to the point of getting to enjoy the prosperity of my life. I have everything that I want, and I earned everything that I have. That is an incredible feeling.

I need to remember every day how fortunate I am to have my hard work pay off. It is easy to get lost in the stresses of life and forget all there is to be thankful for. I need to stop and look around more often rather than just jumping into my day and getting distracted by the chaos of the world.
