Happy Birthday Brainy Bird!  Welcome to your 20’s.  Enjoy your birthday lunch with the beautiful Sara. 💕

Brainy Bird and I woke up in the same time zone this morning with me four hours south of him in Atlanta.  Now, I am sitting on an airplane waiting to take off to Denver.  In Denver, I will have a short layover before I head to Las Vegas!  Needless to say, I am in good spirits this morning.

While I am traveling to Vegas, Brainy Bird will have his only Friday class, and then he has plans to have lunch with his girlfriend at Halls Chophouse, our family’s favorite restaurant in Columbia, SC.  It makes me happy that he has someone to celebrate with and someone to explore and enjoy the world with. I picture the two of them at lunch discussing whether to try something new or go for the steak and frites.

I remember the first time that Brainy Bird and I dined together at Hall’s.  It was our second trip to Columbia, SC.   We were there for college registration.  This will forever be one of the happiest weekend’s of my life.  We explored the campus, did some shopping, and spoiled ourselves with lunch at Hall’s.  We sat outside and tried the soup, salad, and steak and frites lunch special.

While we dined, we talked about the future.  We wondered who he would meet, and I wondered what beyond computer science he would find to study.  He found Sara and he found math.  He is passionate about both.

Today, marks the start of a new decade of life for Brainy Bird.

Two decades ago, I held my little Brainy Bird for the first time, and I said to him, “I hope that you are one day a parent.  Only then will you ever know how much I love you.”

I had hopes and dreams for my beautiful bundle of joy.

Today, he has his own hopes and dreams, and his accomplishments far exceed what I could ever imagined one could accomplish in their first two decades of life.  I am so proud of him.  I love him to the moon and back.

Happy birthday son.  I love you always.  Love Mom.
