Never have I been more excited about the upcoming summer.  In my childhood and college days there were times when I looked forward to summer to have a break from school, but this is not that.  I am already loving life day in and day out.  What I am so looking forward to is a compliment to my already happy life.

The fun begins next weekend.  Brainy Bird will be arriving home from his sophomore year away at college.  I will have just enough time to hug him and help him unpack before he is off to Germany for a few weeks of studying abroad.  He will be studying alternative energy sources in Germany.  There is irony in that.

The same day that Brainy Bird arrives home from college, I will be hopping on a jet plain to Vegas for my third out of town trip with my love.  This will be our second trip to Vegas.  Our last trip was amazing, and I have no doubt that this one will be as well.

We get back from Vegas just in time for Little Chirp’s A+ student award ceremony.  That’s right our Little Chirp is at the top of his freshman class, and he will be getting an award on May 9th in honor of his academic success.

On Thursday, we have a user group for one of the software packages that I help clients with.  Many of my industry friends will be in attendance, and I am excited about reconnecting with everyone.  One of the many things that Covid took away from us is the in person interaction with our colleagues.

Then we get to Saturday.  Never have I looked more forward to Mother’s Day weekend.  On Saturday, Brainy Bird’s girlfriend, the beautiful Sara will be arriving for the summer.  She will be interning at HP.  I am so proud of her.  Getting an internship out of state when you are up against schools like the University of Texas, Houston, and A&M is no easy feat.  She did it!  Moreover, she did it all on her own.  It works out great that HP is an easy commute from where we live.  She will be staying with our friends Josh and Irma.  They live about 3 miles from where I live now, in our old neighborhood.  I am looking forward to getting to meet Sara’s mother when she arrives to the great state of Texas.

On Sunday, we will be celebrating Mother’s Day with relaxation.  We had wanted to go out to eat, but with everything going on, we decided that a relaxing day at home would be more appreciated.  We just finished resurfacing the pool, and my backyard is incredibly inviting!  I am going to make a menu and my love and Little Chirp are going to do the cooking.

In mid-May, just after Sara starts her internship, Brainy Bird will be returning from Germany.  He too will be starting an internship this month.  He is going to be a developer at the company that I work for.  We have plenty of work lined up for him.  I have no doubt that he is going to do an incredible job for us.

I will be traveling for work a great deal this summer, but I will also be carving out time for the Sara and the boys.  I am looking forward to getting to know her better.  I am also really excited about the opportunity to work with Brainy Bird, even if I only see him a few days each month.

I am so excited about the days ahead!!!
