2015 – Week 3 – The Brother’s Wedding

Enough has happened this week to provide highlights for an entire year.  I woke up on Sunday morning in Las Vegas.  I had been there since Friday.  I was up and ready in plenty of time to get the Birds off the airplane.  They flew as unaccompanied minors from Houston to Las Vegas to attend their favorite Uncle’s wedding.  I am not sure who was more excited me or the Birds.  I couldn’t wait for them to get off the plane.  They were among the last ones off.

The man that sat next to them on the plane said that they were exceptional on the flight.  He used the word exceptional.  This made me laugh.  Early in the week, I had told Little Chirp that he would be having lots of fun in Las Vegas if the flight attendant rated his behavior as exceptional.  This launched a debate with Little Chirp.  He was concerned that the flight attendant may not use that exact word.  He wanted to be rewarded with lots in fun in Las Vegas as long as the flight attendant said he was good.  When the man next to them used the word exceptional, I could not decide if that happened to be his word choice or if Little Chirp coached him; nonetheless, I could tell by the conviction in which he rated the Bird’s behavior as exceptional that he meant it.

As we walked to baggage claim, I said excitedly, “You aren’t going to believe it.  There is a self-serve yogurt place, candy stores, a shark reef, tigers, a magic store and a sock store!  I can’t wait to show you guys everything.”  Little Chirp stopped me right there.

“Mommy, there isn’t a sock store.”  He said.  He doesn’t take exception to a shark reef or tigers inside of a hotel, but he can’t believe there is a sock store?  We then carried on the whole way on the cab ride back to the hotel about whether or not the sock store existed.  Little Chirp was certain that was just ridiculous.  It wouldn’t be long before we were in the shops of Mandalay Bay happening by the sock store.  The look on his face was classic.

Over the next three days there would be candy stores, time with Aunt Roni, an amazing seafood dinner, filet mignon for breakfast, and a beautiful wedding.  Honestly, I can’t pick out three top events for this week.  This week was amazing, which makes it hard to believe that I am going to go with just one event for the top 3 highlight reel.  That would be –

Monday, January 19, 2015 – My brother stood with his beautiful bride as they said their wedding vows.  He kissed the bride, and then the reverend introduced us to Mr. and Mrs. Heath David Herbold.  The introduction of them as a married couple was the number one highlight of this week.  It isn’t everyday that you get a new sister.  I feel extremely blessed, and I wish for them a lifetime of happiness together.
