Winter, Potatoe and I are cuddled up in front of the lit fireplace in the living room. The only sound is the faint rumbling of the flames. Trooper and Chewey sat a moment ago looking inside through our double glass doors, politely asking to be let back in after their morning recess. The two are now at their food bowls finishing off the breakfast they left half eaten earlier this morning. Before I finish writing this, Winter certainly will have company on her big fluffy blanket.
The past couple of weeks Houston experienced below freezing temperatures for multiple days. We even saw snow fall last Monday. I love the cold as long as I am warm. I worked from home every day but Thursday, which meant the fur kids got to go inside and outside throughout the cold days, which they loved.
My to do list is long and pressing. We are expecting warmer temperatures with heavy rains the next few days, beginning tonight around 9 PM. I have a great deal of stuff sitting in my driveway that is going to get drenched if I do not do something about it. While it is also stuff that I intend to get rid of, I am not sure letting it all get rained on is a good idea. I need to figure something out. I also want to finish organizing my front room, and all of my office stuff. My goal is to have every inch of the house completely organized before summer. I guess that I have so much spring cleaning to do that I am starting my cleaning in winter.
Despite my long list of things to get done, I wanted to take a moment to get some writing done. Tomorrow marks the start of the fourth week of 2024. Progress on my writing is the one goal in the gutter. I am head of pace and distance on my running in pursuit of a half marathon at a nine-minute pace. I am ahead on my weight loss plan and LOVING my diet. I am on track with my savings and financial goals, and I am slightly ahead on my work goals.
Right now, marks just the second time in twenty-one days that I sat down to write. I have yet to even open my book, which I finished outlining toward the end of 2023, and this is just my second blog post. Boo! Perhaps, my mistake is that I took on too much at one time. What feels more important, writing or finishing my winter/spring cleaning? I want to do both, yet there are only so many hours in a day. Today, I admit that I plan to spend my free time organizing and cleaning in lieu of writing.
While behind on my book, I do feel that my year is off to a good start. I feel warm and happy in my heart. I feel confident that I am going to accomplish all of my 2024 goals. The first twenty-one days of the year represent just 5.7% of the time we have in 2024. This week will be the week that I get progress on my book kicked off. Stay tuned for next week’s update!
Thank you for stopping by to read my thoughts. Have a great week.
P.S. – Go Chiefs! (Yes, I am a Cowboys fan, but my best friend and her husband are Chiefs fans, so Go Chiefs!)
