I got out of bed this morning totally on the fence on whether I should attempt the ride with all the hills on Saturday or if I should stick with the distance ride in Missouri City. I began my decision making process by asking Little Chirp (he is going to be four in 6 days and has declared that he can no longer be called Baby). Asking Little Chirp is my way of flipping a coin.
Little Chirp popped into my bathroom while I was drying my hair to let me know that his teeth were brushed, but that Brainy Bird only gave him one sticker this morning because Brainy Bird had to brush little Chirp’s teeth for him. As long as teeth are getting brushed, I do not really care, so I said, “Good job Baby.” I was firmly reminded that Little Chirp is no longer a baby. I came back from my reprimand with, “Do you think Mommy should ride the hard bike race with all the hills or the easier one?”
Little Chirp looked concerned, “Are you going to fall over again like last time Mommy?”
I sighed, “No baby, I was just trying to figure out how my new pedals and shoes worked. I will not fall over again, no worries.” I was again reminded that he is to be four in six days and is no longer baby. I took Little Chirp into the kitchen for his breakfast.
I got to the office, and while I waited for my laptop to start up, I did a quick google map search to figure out which ride was closer. Why not just do the one that is closer to home? Interestingly enough, they are the same distance. The drive to the hard ride is a WAY nicer drive.
I still felt undecided. Cowboys Fan stopped by my desk and asked what I ride I planned to do, and at that point I was still undecided. He is doing the hard ride, but he has actual bike riding experience and ability. We learned last week that he can even change a bike tire. He warned me, without being too discouraging that the ride was hard. He also advised me to try out my new pedals before Saturday. I thought of my bruised and bloody knee and tried not to laugh.
I told him that I would ask Egal what she was doing and go from there.
Before I could track down Egal, I noticed that one of my most trusted friends had posted a comment on my blog that I should sign up for the hard ride, so that is what I did. I am nervously looking forward to this weekend. My plan is to ride the hard ride on Saturday, and the Bluebonnet ride on Sunday.
Most importantly, I want to keep my word with Little Chirp and not fall over with my clip in pedals again.
