I do not like contractions, but I do like the words of motivation in the title of this blog post. At the end of the day, what I can or cannot achieve in life is limited only by what I believe is possible. My life is filled with endless possibilities.
A prestigious, global firm acquired the uniquely talented firm that I spent the last five years working for. On July 1, we all be employees of the new firm. One would have to go to the Houston Museum’s butterfly garden to find more butterflies than the ones flying around in my stomach all week. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. Above all, I am motivated.
In anticipation of the closing of the acquisition, I spent the last week of June resetting my goals and my priorities. I spent the week reflecting on what matters to me in this new adventure. Who do I want to be? How will I make a positive impact? What areas of personal growth will I focus on?
I woke up on July 1st ready to go with my new goals all planned out. I got up this morning to reflect on my ambitious goals for the week and I found that I accomplished all of them, and I did so in a short week. I went from dragging myself out of bed to waking up on my own ready to start the day. Motivation is the best alarm clock is another one of my favorite motivational phrases.
Before me is a rare opportunity to hit some much-needed reset buttons and start something new without leaving behind the people at the company I so loved for the past five years. My success depends on maintaining a positive mindset, embracing teamwork and collaboration, not being afraid to ask for help, and working hard.
Week 1 of my big new adventure is officially in the books. Week 2, here I come.
Ready, set, go!
