It is roughly one degree above freezing on the second Saturday of January. I enjoyed my first full week back at work after the holidays. I set lofty goals for the week, and I closed about 80% of them. My goal to run nine miles this week falls into the 20%. I love to run in the cold, but the cold and rain do not work for me.

Brainy Bird returned to South Carolina on Thursday. It was a great visit. In four short months we will be celebrating his college graduation. He will be finishing with two degrees and the completion of the honors program. He gets three graduation ceremonies. I think I will attend one :). I am looking forward to that last road trip to attend graduation and move him back home.

Little Chirp’s college search begins this year. I am excited for him. He enjoys his job at Marco’s Pizza, and the obsession with bowling continues. His next tournament is next weekend. It is the Houston city tournament, so I am expecting it to be big. His future is bright ahead. He chose extra-curricular activities that make him happy, rather than those that look good on his college application. Not every college he applies to is going to be impressed with this. The right college will be.

For me, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my job. I love the company, the mindset of the company, and most of all I love the people that I work with. I actually looked forward to the holidays coming to an end, so we could all get back to work. I look forward to Monday mornings.

I also deeply appreciate my social circle. Last year, I consciously changed the places that I frequent and the friends that I spend time with. Instead of a large circle of okay friends, I invested my time and emotional energy into a small, close group of good friends. I never dread social obligations. I do not have any more social obligations. I choose who I spend my time with. God blessed me with amazing friends.

I have a long, but stimulating day ahead as I work on my book, which I am on track to finish. Yes, I am writing a book. More to come on that soon. In the meantime, thank you for stopping by to read my thoughts. I wish for you a blessed year. Happy 2025!
