It is getting close to ten o’clock, and I am still at my desk in my office at home.  I am busy at work with a new project that kicked off yesterday, and I just finished a statement of work for a new project that kicks off next week.  Now, I am waiting on one of my fellow consultants to send me something yet tonight for a big meeting in the morning for yet another client.  I started my day at 4 am, and tomorrow will start even earlier.  The short of it is that I am crazy busy.    This sounds rough, but I am actually having a great week, and I am killing it in a good way on the work front.

I enjoy work, and the long hours don’t bother in the least.  Despite an eventful work schedule, life is not all work and now play.  I have time for the things that are really important.  I sat and ate breakfast this morning with my Bird’s.  Brainy Bird made waffles for his brother, and I had a tea.  During the day, I caught up a bit with my close friend K about her new love interest, which happens to by my trivia friend KIA.  They met at my Valentine’s Day party.  I also ran into Jac, who was looking sharp as usual.  I like that feeling of the tiny skip in my heartbeat when I see him.

The Bird’s and I enjoyed a “Fat Tuesday” dinner of French fries and hamburgers.  Over dinner, Brainy Bird told me all about his gifted and talented project, and how he wants to be a trader when he grows up.  His project is about trading strategies.  Little Chirp told me he doesn’t know what he wants to be when he grows up, but that he knows he likes art and lunch time.  The two of them talked about how the rules of dodge ball evolve as you get older.  Dodge ball during PE is always one of Brainy Bird’s favorites.

After dinner, we went to my Godson’s last regular season high school basketball game.  I cannot believe he is graduating high school in May.  I got to catch up with my Godson’s mother, my best friend, Sunshine while we watched the game.  I gave her highlights from the Valentine’s Day party, and we talked about my Godson’s upcoming senior prom.  The best part of the evening was a senior player that had never gotten to play in a game before.  He was always the team’s manager (the kid that takes care of all of the equipment and gets the player’s water).  Everyone was cheering for him to score a basketball in his first ever game.  The gymnasium erupted with excitement when the young man finally made a three point shot late in the fourth quarter.  From there, he was on a roll, sinking two more three pointers.   Our local high school has so much school spirit and comradely.  At the end of the game, all of the players tackled the player in excitement over his big game.  The boys are headed to the playoffs, so we get to see my Godson play just a little while longer.

Seeing my Godson play in his last regular season high school game was a great reminder of how important balance in life is.  I am extremely grateful for the balance that I have thanks to my  new job, and my own focus on what is important to me.  Today was a great day on every front, and I am thankful for the amazing life that I am living.
