The blog has been so serious lately. I thought that I would lighten things up a bit. I weigh 25 pounds more than I did on this day two years ago. Okay, that is not lightening things up. I read a short article the other day about “carb creep”. It is when people successfully convert to a healthy lifestyle, eliminating packaged foods and refined carbs, but then slowly over time these foods creep back into ones diet.
That is exactly what has happened to me. I am not sure what happened. Today, I organize the pantry, and I separated foods that I should be eating from those that I should not be eating. A shocking 90% of the foods in my pantry fell into the “should NOT be eating” bucket.
With that realization, I started a diet today. It will be a four month diet. With a goal of losing 25 pounds. As is typical with a new diet, my mind is occupied with all of the foods that I am craving that I can’t have. Chilli con queso is at the top of the list along with a bacon cheeseburger and a beer. I am also craving anything with cream gravy. I am thinking beyond just chicken fried steak. I am thinking hashbrown potatoes topped with cream gravy, a slider topped with cream gravy, eggs Benedict topped with cream gravy.
It is going to be a long four months if my brain keep operating in this way. Every so often, I put my mind to a health goal, and I always make it happen. I know that I will with this one too.
I love to be setting my 2018 New Year’s resolutions and not have “lose weight” at the top. Diet day 1 down, ninety-one days to go. As Little Chirp would say, “I got this!”
