The kick off on NFL football season marks the start of my favorite time of the year. This begins with football. I love the excitement around the first few weeks of the NFL as there is always that unexptectedly successful team, and the team that is a disappointment. Every year, I imagine the Texans and Cowboys facing off in the Super Bowl. The wind is usually out of my sails before midseason, but I still enjoy every game.
Right about the time that my forever dream of seeing my two favorite teams battle out in the Super Bowl is dying, the cool weather is upon us. I drop a few pounds effortlessly as I enjoy long runs in the cool temperatures. Then it is time for Halloween. This year Little Chirp is having a party, which we will co-host with our neighbors. I am not big on adult Halloween parties; I love kid Halloween parties.
The cool weather bring in Thanksgiving weekend. I am conflicted about Thanksgiving. I do not like the stuff oneself concept of Thanksgiving, and there is something about Thanksgiving more than any other time of year that I really miss my parents and the family that I once had. I also really hate the shopping until you drop drive of the turkey’s day.
I do love the idea of taking time to reflect and to be thankful for the many blessings in our lives. I also really like watching NFL football on Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving passes and then it is time for my favorite month of the year; it is time to celebrate the birth of our Lord. Every year, our little family finds some way to make Christmas special as a family. I love the weeks before Christmas when I do all of the planning for our celebration.
Then the NFL play offs start to shape up, and we ring in the New Year. I am always great on my diet for the month of January, and I always feel great. Then the Super Bowl brings my favorite time of the year to end an end.
This year, the fun has just kicked off. Dallas won their season opener, and the Texans lost theirs, but won in the Thursday night game that marked the start of the second week of NFL. The highlight of week one was also the Thursday night game in which the Chiefs jumped up and beat the Patriots.
Dallas plays the Broncos today, and I am a little nervous. Win or lose, this is going to be one of many fun days ahead.
