The year has flown by, and we are down to the last quarter of the year. My goal this quarter is to lose the last 10 pounds that I need to lose to get down to my ideal weight. Then for the first time ever, I will be looking towards a New Year’s resolution that does not involve losing weight. I have not yet completely crafted what my resolution will be, but it will be centered around spending time with friend’s and family. What could be more important?

The year 2019 is going to be a big year for our family. Brainy Bird will turn 16 early in the year. And he will be a junior in high school before the year is over. I would like for Brainy Bird’s grades to be higher. Every parent would like for their child’s grades to be higher, but overall Brainy Bird is doing well. He is definitely on the right path in life. He gets home from school later and later as he gets more and more involved in his computer science assignments, robotics club and engineering club.

Little Chirp will turn 11 the early part of next year. He is killing it in school. He told Sunshine last night that he does not have to work hard at school that it just comes easy to him. Well if that is the case, I need to set the bar a little higher. He actually does spend quite a bit of time on homework. I think that he thinks the cool thing to say is that he does not have to try that hard.

There is a great deal to look forward to before we get to 2019. First, is homecoming. Brainy Bird asked a sweet girl to go with him to homecoming. There are 11 kids total in their homecoming group, and they are an awesome bunch of kids. We are paying for everyone’s dinner, and we plan to pre-order. They are going to one of the nicer Italian restaurants in our area. We had them fill out a little online survey about their food preferences. It made me laugh that garlic bread and pepperoni pizza were hands down their most popular choices.

Also, on the kid front, Brainy Bird also starts a college leadership training program this weekend. His application brought happy tears to my eyes. When asked what he thinks leadership is, he talked about the director of his summer camp. Her name is Mandy; Mandy and I were campers together at the same camp our entire lives. Little Chirps basketball tournament to finish out the season is coming up. His team has lost nearly every game by double digits.

Later in October, my neighbor is hosting a charity golf tournament to benefit the local police’s canine until. This is such a great charity, and it will be a fun event. I am hoping that some of my friends from back home will be able to come in town that weekend.

The Sheltered Life gala is in early November. I am getting a table this year, and inviting some neighbors and clients. I look forward to this every year; I am REALLY looking forward to it this year. The gala will be followed by my wine party the very next day. I am having my neighborhood wine group over in early November to kick of the holiday season. I can hardly wait!

That will be followed by Thanksgiving in South Padre with the boys, Yvonne, Page, Marissa, Scot and Yvonne’s parents and sister. We will certainly eat drink and be merry that weekend.

In December, I am invited to a wedding with a guy that I am now just friends with. He no longer lives in Houston. Once upon a time, I very much wanted to be more than friends. At this point, I am happy to just be friends. I love weddings, and I am looking forward to spending some time with him.

My company’s holiday party at the Marriott Marque (amazing venue) is also in December. Then there is the Christmas holidays. Last year, for the first time ever in my life, I took two whole weeks off for Christmas. I mean I actually took the time off. I plan to do the same this year. I won’t have a great deal of money to go any where; instead, we will spend time as a family playing games, watching movies and football and cooking special meals at home.

Then we will ring in the New Year. I am seriously considering hosting a New Year’s party. The house will be decorated for Christmas, and the pool is beautiful when it is all lit up at night. A New Year’s party would be the perfect way to start of my 2019 new year’s resolution.

The days ahead are exciting. I am truly grateful for my life, and I am enjoying every minute of it. I thank God everyday for the life that I am living.
