Brainy Bird is now a junior in high school, and Little Chirp is in the sixth grade. They are really good to each other. I cannot imagine a better brother than they are to one another. Brainy Bird likes having his own time with his friends, but he always makes time for Little Chirp too.

Both the boys share a love for music. Little Chirp plays the violin and the piano, and Brainy Bird loves the guitar. Brainy Bird’s prize possession is his electric guitar. He is currently hanging out with a group of kids that are trying to get a good enough bad together to play in the talent show. I like that the girl in the group is the drummer.

Brainy Bird is also extremely into computer programming and robotics. He will graduate from high school with four years of computer science and four years of engineering classes. He has an incredibly bright future ahead. He is looking to attend a top computer science program at a middle tier school out of state. A good computer science education does not have to come with a huge price tag. The middle tier schools offer merit scholarships, which the ivy league and top tier schools do not offer.

Brainy Bird also likes to go to the gaming stores and play Magic Gathering. Sometimes he lets Little Chirp tag along, which is super exciting for Little Chirp. Little Chirp also likes for his brother to take him out to eat just the two of them and out for ice cream. I often get reports of people that I know seeing the two of them out places together, and the review is always the same, “they are so polite to each other and to everyone else. They look so happy together.” Nothing could be more true.

Little Chirp loves sports. He is always tossing or bouncing a ball around the house. I cannot tell you how many times that I have told him to stop. It is as if he literally cannot help himself. He is looking forward to basketball season starting back up again in January. I am looking forward to see him bouncing a basketball some where other than my living. In our new house, he has a basketball goal outside, which is where he can be found when it is not cold or raining outside.

When we moved, Little Chirp changed schools. They said that he could stay at the old school if he wanted to, but there would be no bus service. Little Chirp really wanted to be able to come home to his cat Storme everyday instead of going to a friend’s house after school, so he made the decision to transfer schools. In seventh all of the kids that went to his old school and all of the kids that are at his new school will start junior high together. He plans to invite two kids from his old school and two kids to his new school to his birthday party in March.

The new year begins tomorrow, and 2020 is going to be a huge year for the boys. Brainy Bird will be applying to colleges. By the end of the year, he will likely know where he is going. Little Chirp will start junior high school. This will be our last year all together before Brainy Bird heads off to college in the fall of 2021. Where did the time go? I am not sure, but I definitely plan to make every minutes of 2020 count.
